GRAND TRUCK ROAD RESTAURANT
IGTR Restaurant is a bold and distinctive design statement—a large-format, non-air-conditioned dining space that challenges conventional norms while addressing the evolving needs of contemporary hospitality. The vision was rooted in recreating the charm of a traditional dhaba while elevating the experience through a fine-dine culinary offering. It serves as a nostalgic nod to the past, designed to host large family gatherings and social groups—something that many modern restaurants struggle to accommodate meaningfully.
Designing an open-air restaurant comes with its own set of functional and operational challenges, particularly in terms of comfort and maintenance. However, through a thoughtful and balanced approach to aesthetics, spatial planning, and functionality, the space was meticulously crafted to overcome these constraints while preserving its raw and authentic appeal.
One of the most iconic features of the space is a life-size, repurposed truck—transformed into a unique Private Dining Room (PDR), becoming a standout element that draws attention and curiosity. Every aspect of the design is inspired by the legendary Grand Trunk Road, celebrating its cultural diversity, regional cuisines, and the essence of travel through a cohesive and immersive spatial experience. The result is a space that not only tells a story but also becomes an experience in itself.
